CSV rows → named barcode files
Generate barcode files from a CSV
Turn a catalog export into individual barcode images without copying values one at a time. Choose the column to encode, choose how to name each file, and check real barcodes before exporting the batch.

How to use this workflow
- Export a UTF-8 CSV with a header row. Keep identifiers such as 001234 as text in the source system.
- Upload the file and map SKU to Barcode value. Code 128 is a useful starting point for internal alphanumeric identifiers.
- Map SKU to Filename column, or use a filename template such as {SKU}-{Product}. Review the first 20 rows.
- Generate the full batch. Unlock export to download a PNG or SVG ZIP, including a manifest that records successful and failed rows.

Use identifiers you already own or have permission to encode. BarcodeDesk does not issue or register UPC, EAN or GS1 numbers.
Keep identifiers intact before uploading
CSV stores text, but spreadsheet software can change that text before you save it. An identifier like 001234 may become 1234, and a long numeric code may be displayed in scientific notation. Set the source column to text before entering or importing the identifiers, then inspect the CSV in a text editor.
The barcode value is the identifier you want a scanner to return. Product descriptions belong in a caption column, not in the value field unless you intentionally want to encode the description. For UPC or EAN, supply your existing registered number; this tool does not issue identifiers.
Headers, delimiters and quoted values
Use one record per row and put column names in the first row. The CSV parser detects common delimiters. Quoted fields let a product name contain a comma without turning it into an extra column. Blank rows are skipped; an empty barcode value in a populated row is flagged during generation.
If the mapping screen shows an unexpected number of columns, check the delimiter and quote characters in the source export. Download the example below to see a simple file structure. Files are parsed on your device and are not uploaded to a server.
Choose files or printable labels
Use SVG when your next step is a vector-aware design or printing application. PNG is convenient for image-based systems. A ZIP contains separate named images; it is not a printable sheet. If you need many labels arranged on paper, use the CSV label workflow instead.
Previewing 20 rows is free. A full-batch ZIP or label PDF needs One Batch ($4.99) or Pro ($49 lifetime). Each job supports up to 20,000 rows and files up to 15 MB; practical limits also depend on your browser and device.
Barcode Generator from CSV questions
The current workspace uses one selected format for the whole batch. Split mixed-format data into separate jobs.
Invalid values are shown with a reason. Successful rows can still export; the ZIP manifest records the results so you can correct and rerun failed rows.
This page is configured for CSV. Use the Excel generator or the main bulk workspace for XLSX and XLS files.
