A reusable layout for your next batch

Choose a barcode label template

Start with a generic sheet layout instead of entering every dimension from scratch. Compare label sizes, download a demonstration PDF, and apply the template to your own spreadsheet labels.

How to use this workflow

  1. Compare the generic layouts below by paper size, label dimensions and capacity. They are not certified Avery or other manufacturer templates.
  2. Select a template to populate the planner. Change measurements if necessary; edits become a custom layout.
  3. Download a free sample PDF with demonstration barcodes. Check its alignment on plain paper against your stock.
  4. Upload your CSV or Excel table and map its columns. The selected layout carries into full PDF export after a paid unlock.

Templates arrange data; they do not replace it

Use identifiers you already own or have permission to encode. BarcodeDesk does not issue or register UPC, EAN or GS1 numbers.

Choose by label space, not just labels per sheet

The Letter 30-label layout is a compact starting point for short identifiers. The A4 24-label layout offers a taller label for captions. The A4 14-label layout offers more horizontal room for longer Code 128 values and product text.

A higher label count uses less paper but leaves less room for the barcode. Compare the longest identifier in your catalog, not only the first row. A layout that works for a short SKU may crowd a long serial number or a GS1 string.

Test the longest identifier in the Code 128 generator to judge how much horizontal barcode space it needs.

Generic templates and manufacturer stock

These templates have explicit dimensions and equal outer margins. A manufacturer's product number may require different top and side margins or a specific pitch. Do not assume compatibility from the number of labels alone.

Measure your stock or read the manufacturer's dimensions, then compare width, height, horizontal gap, vertical gap and margins. The current exporter cannot represent different top and side margins. If the stock needs them, choose a compatible alternative rather than forcing the template to match.

Need different dimensions or spacing? Customize your barcode sheet layout with measurements from your label stock.

What the sample PDF demonstrates

The sample contains two demonstration barcodes positioned using your current settings. It is free and contains no uploaded product data. It lets you inspect paper dimensions, placement and caption space before buying a batch export.

The production workflow replaces the demonstration records with your mapped spreadsheet rows. Product captions and numeric dollar prices are optional. Print at 100%, scan a test label, and keep a note of the chosen dimensions for later batches; the layout selection is not a permanent saved template library.
