How it compares
ITF-14 uses thicker bars than EAN-13 or UPC-A specifically so it survives low-resolution printing directly onto cardboard.

- Select ITF-14 in the format dropdown
- Enter 13 digits for an automatically calculated check digit, or 14 if you're verifying one already assigned
- If you're printing straight onto cardboard, take the width warning seriously — ITF-14 needs thicker, more spaced-out bars than a retail barcode to survive that lower print resolution
- Download the PNG for your carton or pallet label once it looks right
Common ITF-14 use cases
- Case and pallet-level barcodes for cartons shipped between distribution centers
- Printing directly onto corrugated cardboard, where ITF-14's thicker bars survive low print resolution
- Verifying a supplier's ITF-14 check digit before a shipment label goes to print
- Logistics systems that need a case-level identifier distinct from the individual product's EAN-13 or UPC-A

FAQ
ITF-14 barcode questions
13 or 14 — enter 13 and the check digit is calculated for you, or enter the full 14 and it gets verified against the GS1 mod-10 algorithm.
By design. ITF-14 is meant to print directly onto corrugated cardboard, which doesn't hold fine detail the way a printed label does — thicker bars survive that lower print resolution.
Not yet — bearer bars (the border box some ITF-14 printing methods require) are on the roadmap for the printable-label tools. If your printing process specifically requires them, confirm with your print vendor before relying on the current PNG output for cardboard printing.
Case and pallet-level shipping identification — it's the barcode carried on the outer packaging, one level up from the individual product's EAN-13 or UPC-A.
